RTC Group Joins BP Australia's Environmental Program - Global Choice
RTC Group is proud to declare their participation in BP Australia’s environmental program BP Global Choice®, designed to dramatically offset emissions from its fleet of vehicles.
It is a significant step in our plans for a greener future - consumers, investors and governments expect companies to act in the best interests of the environment. This program will help us offset greenhouse gases caused by the fuel consumption of our fleet vehicles.
Our involvement gives us the opportunity to start making a difference today - and as a member of the program, we receive an annual certificate detailing the volume of greenhouse gas emissions reduced as a result of our participation. This is an independently audited figure that our competitors, customers, and the general public can judge us by.
For the calendar year 2008, RTC Group offset 257 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by paying a premium on top of all our fuel purchases. This is the equivalent of 5,140,000 party balloons or the volume of over 250 three bedroom houses. RTC Group have elected to offset 100% of our fuel emissions to be invested in abatement projects such as fuel switching, capturing landfill gas, renewable energy and cleaner technology – projects aimed at reducing emissions at the source.

BP Global Choice was the first program to be independently audited and certified Greenhouse Friendly by the Australian Greenhouse Office. Further, it is recognised as the most significant program within the Department of Climate Change’s Greenhouse Friendly Program.
Since 2001, products sold under BP Global Choice have been accredited under the Australian Greenhouse Office’s Greenhouse Friendly program and are subject to its offset and verification requirements.
